FLARE: Chapter 11: The Perfect Ending Excerpt

(This is an excerpt from my book, FLARE-Chapter 11 The Perfect Ending)
Trigger warnings: Sexual content

Cher was busy preparing a banana float for a customer, but once the customer left, she noticed Dolan sitting quietly at a table in the corner. Her brow furrowed and she let out a sigh before walking over to him and taking a seat.

"What brings you here," she asked, her eyes reflecting a hint of sadness. Seeing him brought back the heartache she felt when she saw him with Olivia in her vision.

"I wanted to see you," he responded, feeling a sense of awkwardness. "I never received an answer from you about the people you've been associating with lately. Perhaps we could meet somewhere and talk about it."

“Dolan, I am unable to disclose that information to you. I am fully aware that I am an energy vampire, but through no fault of my own," she stressed. "Nevertheless, I am committed to preventing others from falling into the same fate as me." She gazed at him with sincerity in her eyes. His gaze was fixed on her, a mixture of concern and confusion evident in his expression. He feared that he may have made an error in turning her into an energy vampire. However, he realized that if he had chosen to end her life, he would have never experienced the joy of being with her. “Cher, I understand your frustration, but the reality is that you are now one of us, and that cannot be undone. I urge you to cease your crusade against our own kind. If the blood suckers you attacked discover that you have been targeting them, it will only lead to conflict between our kind and theirs." As his hand extended towards hers, she quickly pulled away, a clear sign of her discomfort. His expression softened as he spoke, revealing a sense of urgency in his request, “I am your maker, please I insist you visit me tonight.” Despite his plea, she avoided making eye contact, her gaze fixed on something in the distance. With a gentle touch, he guided her face to meet his, his eyes filled with determination and authority, demanding her attention. In that moment, she decided to reveal a secret that had been weighing heavily on her.

“Do you know why I joined the Hunters in attacking the vampires?” He waited for an explanation. The truth unfolded as she explained how her cousin had fallen victim to a vampire attack, sparking a personal vendetta against the blood-sucking creatures. “My father, a diligent police officer, had been looking into a string of mysterious deaths that seemed to be vampire-related, but he believed they were the work of a deranged individual. However, I knew the truth behind those killings.” She paused and went on to explain, "Tomas, whom I had been dating for a few months, but I hadn’t yet slept with him, discovered my secret when we finally engaged in sex. He discovered I was an energy vampire when I unknowingly tried to feed on him, only to be repelled by a religious tattoo on his back. It was then that he caught a glimpse of my monstrous face. In that moment, I came to terms with what I am and the need to make amends. I begged him not to end my life, revealing that I had been turned into a creature of the night against my will. He felt sorry for me and in exchange for sparing my life, he proposed teaming up to track down other monsters, given my ability to identify them. The reason I spared Leena's life is due to a pact we made together."

"What kind of pact?" Dolan asked. The question lingered in his mind, unsettling him. “I can’t tell you,” She paused and stood up. “Dolan go home, and I will be by tonight.” She gave him a reassuring smile. He left and later in the evening she went to his apartment. As he swung the door open, their eyes locked in a fiery gaze. The intense feeling of desire washed over them, and she sauntered into the room. They found themselves wrapped in each other's embrace once more, their bodies intertwined on Dolan's waterbed. Cher couldn't help but take note of the unconventional choice of bed, but it didn't hinder their passionate encounter.

He forcefully lifted her, positioning her legs over his shoulders, and plunged into her dripping, eager center, thrusting with unbridled intensity. They were consumed by desire and lustful moments. He implored her to arch over the bathroom counter, and he thrust into her from behind with vigor and velocity. Despite her lack of experience with anal sex, he was resolute, and she was eager to please. Gradually, he slid into her snug anus, and with delicate motions of his sizable shaft, she climaxed as he teased her clit with his fingers simultaneously. They engaged in sexual activity in various areas of his apartment, including on the breakfast table. As they reclined on Dolan’s bed in the aftermath of their intimate moment, Cher’s thoughts began to drift. She pondered her future and the harsh reality that she would never be able to have children, because she is an energy vampire. A twinge of bitterness crept into her heart as she rested her head on his chest. Listening to his slow, steady heartbeat, she couldn’t help but wonder if he was truly alive.

“But of course he is,” she mused to herself, “he breathes just like I do. So, what sets us apart from regular humans? Perhaps it’s the fact that we can live for centuries, much like traditional vampires. However, like them, we can also be killed.” Sensing Cher’s distraction, Dolan asked, “What’s on your mind?”

“Oh, nothing much,” Cher replied, “I was just thinking about the two of us.” He embraced her tightly, planting a gentle kiss on the top of her head. The room was filled with the melodic sounds of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" playing from the radio in the background. "Cher, please reconsider your pursuit of our kind," he pleaded, hoping for a response that never came. The silence unsettled him, causing him to question whether his life was in danger. Despite his concerns, he knew deep down that Cher would never harm him. In fact, he was certain that she harbored feelings for him, and he couldn't deny that he may have developed feelings for her as well. Throughout his centuries of existence, she was the closest he had come to finding someone who resembled his beloved late wife, Cestra

It had been a whole week since Dolan last laid eyes on Cher. After searching for her at her workplace with no luck, he decided to pay a visit to Maddie at her home. Standing at her front door, he patiently waited for her to invite him in, as he couldn't enter without an invitation. “Alright, you can come in,” Maddie finally relented and allowed him to enter, closing the door behind him. Dolan, with his hands in his pockets, made his way to the couch and took a seat, while Maddie settled in a recliner across from him. With a sigh, she asked, “What brings you here?” He responded, "I was hoping you might have seen Cher.”

Maddie was taken aback by Cher's failure to inform Dolan about her weekend plans, assuming that she would share the news with him. Dolan's expression hinted at his confusion, prompting Maddie to provide an explanation for Cher's absence.

“She went to see relatives out of state, I think she said Oregon, something like that,” she paused. “Do you want anything to drink?” Dolan declined the offer, “No, I just wanted to know if you’ve seen her.”

“I saw her two days ago,” Maddie revealed.

Maddie cautiously asked him about the status of his relationship with Cher, expressing genuine interest in their well-being. “So, how are you both doing? Is everything okay?”

Dolan chuckled and grinned, “Define, okay?” He paused, “Besides the intimate moments, she barely opens up to me, in fact, she keeps parts of her life hidden." Maddie understands but refuses to disclose more than she already knows.

Cher doesn’t disclose much to her, especially since joining forces with the Hunters. Cher doesn’t want her to get involved. Maddie chuckled softly and said, “Did you know that they call her Flare? The Hunters gave her that nickname.” Dolan, intrigued by this revelation, raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Flare?" he repeated, trying to wrap his head around the unexpected moniker. Maddie simply nodded in response, a hint of concern lingering in her expression. Dolan's face took on a thoughtful expression as he took in this new information. It was clear that he was already formulating a plan on how to address the situation with Cher, showing his genuine care for her well-being.

"Thank you for sharing that with me, I appreciate it. When Cher returns, I'll ask about her nickname," he chuckled before getting up from his seat. Maddie accompanied him to the door, and as Dolan stepped outside onto the porch, he glanced back.

"Take care," he bid farewell before walking off. Maddie closed the door behind him and made her way to her bedroom. Once there, she reached for the phone and dialed the room number where Cher is staying. She is currently residing in one of the motels in Seattle, Washington. The group of Hunters are staying at the same motel, waiting for further instruction. Olivia's penthouse is the prime target, situated in a building owned by Olivia herself. Among the residents are a group of elite energy vampires, along with some regular humans. A team of more than 25 skilled hunters are prepared to eliminate the head Mistress and her followers, ensuring that no innocent lives are harmed in the process. Cher picked up the phone and answered it.

A Time Traveler's Companion: Chapter 3: Tarislee (A Truth Revealed)

An excerpt from Chapter 3: Tarislee
(Content warning: Sexual situations)

This remarkable and intelligent gentleman had become my initial lover. As the night unfolded, we remained locked in a fervent embrace, and with the dawn's light breaking, he still held me tightly in his powerful arms. It is a curious thing really; it was as if he feared I might vanish from his grasp. Following a revitalizing shower we shared, breakfast was brought to our room, and we readied ourselves for a captivating 6-hour tour on a train to the mesmerizing Blue Crystal Caves. On our way to the caves, I couldn't shake off the image of the scars I had spotted on his back while we were showering. I didn’t notice them during our intimate time together, but they were there, clear as day in the steam of the shower.

I thought about asking him how he got them, but ultimately, I chose to keep my mouth shut and let it be. The scenery was stunning, leaving me in awe as we traveled to the caverns in a futuristic looking bullet train that was encased in a thick strong durable Plexiglass tube much like the bullet trains in the city. When we finally arrived, we stepped out and stood alongside the crowd, as we patiently waited outside the entrance. Our tour guide handed us white hazmat suits, and I curiously asked Mr. Smith, “Why do we have to wear these?” He explained that wearing them was necessary to prevent any contamination in the caves, as well as to protect us from the intense heat generated by the crystals, which could exceed 150 Fahrenheit. After helping me secure my helmet, he reminded me that photography was strictly prohibited. Although I couldn't capture the moment, I can only describe the incredible sight of the caves, where the crystals shimmered in mesmerizing shades of blue and iridescent colors.

The crystals were large and towered from the ground up, nearly touching the top of the cave. The desire to touch and take a small piece of this beauty overwhelmed me. I took some selfies of Mr. Smith and I outside of the entrance of the cave in our hazmat suits with our helmets off. Later in the afternoon, we made our way to the elegant restaurant he had mentioned earlier. The restaurant exuded sophistication with its sleek black and white decor, perfectly complementing my stylish black and white geometric print mini dress.

He opted for a timeless black and white ensemble. From our table, we had a breathtaking view of the beach and a distant island. Our dinner was delightful, although there were moments when Mr. Smith's attention seemed to drift away from our conversation, fixated instead on the crashing waves and rugged cliffs. It wasn't that I was boring him; there was an air of contemplation, as if something weighed heavily on his mind, transcending our relationship. Concerned, I asked, "Are you alright, am I boring you?" I took a sip of my wine, hoping to ease the tension.

"Butterfly, I’m sorry for being distracted. I couldn't help but ponder about your undeniable affection for those mesmerizing blue crystals. The way your eyes lit up whenever they caught a glimpse of those precious gems was truly enchanting. I would like to give you a small fragment, one that you could cherish and adorn around your neck, but the rules forbid anyone from taking crystal fragments, and I regretfully cannot fulfill what you desire." He was right, I longed for a tiny piece of that captivating crystal, a tangible reminder of our shared moment together. However, I understood the importance of adhering to the regulations in place, especially on this planet. I suspect though that there is something else bothering him. With a gentle smile, I reached out my hand towards him, intertwining our fingers in a comforting embrace. His eyes flickered with a fleeting blueish glow, reminiscent of that unforgettable night we shared. My breath caught in my throat as I gasped in surprise.

"Oh, you noticed," he muttered, averting his gaze and swallowing hard. "I hope this doesn't change how you feel about me Butterfly," he confessed, his eyes filled with sincerity as they locked onto mine.

"No, it doesn't," I replied, pausing for a moment to gather my thoughts, “Why do your eyes sometimes have a bluish glow to them?” His face blushed a bit before he explained.

“My eyes sometimes will glow during intense moments,” he paused and added, “Do you wish to stop seeing me?” I shook my head, "No of course not. I want to keep moving forward in this relationship. I love being with you," I said.

"Do you love me?" he asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty regarding the depth of our relationship. In response, my cheeks blushed as I nodded in affirmation, although technically we just met but I do feel a strong connection to him that I can’t explain. As we dined on the familiar Earth-like cuisine, I couldn't help but notice the strange, otherworldly fruits and vegetables that adorned our plates. Humans had brought their culinary traditions to this new planet, but there were still remnants of the unknown that left me hesitant to indulge, fearing potential allergic reactions. Returning to our room, the air crackled with undeniable tension as we once again succumbed to our primal urges. Our lovemaking was intense, fueled by a fiery passion that consumed us both. He fucked me in various places, each more daring than the last - the table, the bathroom counter, the steamy confines of the shower, and finally the cool hardness of the floor. But it was when we found ourselves entwined in the bed that I truly lost myself in the throes of ecstasy.

Lying on my side, he lifted my leg and entered me from behind, his hard thick member filling me completely. The initial gentleness of his thrusts soon gave way to a relentless rhythm, each movement pushing me closer to the edge until I could no longer contain my cries. Our bodies reached the pinnacle of pleasure simultaneously, and as our climax washed over us, our essence spilled uncontrollably onto the soft bedcovers. Mr. Smith never allowed me to take the dominant position, and I never felt the need to push for it either. After our passionate encounter, we surrendered to the blissful embrace of slumber, entwined in each other's arms. The next day, we embarked on an adventure to explore the enchanting island that had captivated my attention through the restaurant's window. The monolith produced clothing for me to wear, a pair of black denim pants, a white cotton lace button up blouse and a pair of white canvas shoes.

I wondered as to why the monolith didn’t create a Disco dress for me when we traveled to 1976. I decided to brush it off and not think about it. Looking around, curiosity got the best of me, and I couldn't help but ask him, "Are we allowed to be on this island?" My eyes caught sight of a sign that clearly stated, "Private Residence, No Trespassing." Instead of answering my question directly, he responded with a warm smile. As we strolled along a dusty path, I couldn't help but express my awe, "It's absolutely beautiful." In that moment, he gently wrapped his arm around my waist, drawing me closer to him. With a sense of pride, he revealed, "This is a private island that I purchased a long time ago, but I haven't made it my permanent residence yet. I often come here to find solace and contemplate my life."

Continuing our walk, we eventually found ourselves seated on a sturdy concrete bench, strategically placed to face the vast expanse of the ocean. The view was nothing short of breathtaking. I found myself mesmerized by the endless horizon, as if the water stretched on forever. “The tranquility of the surroundings allowed me to escape from the chaos of the outside world, even if just for a moment,” he said. We stared out at the sunset, lost in the serenity of the moment, he broke the silence with heartfelt words, "I'm truly grateful to have met you, Remi. By the way, I don't think I've ever asked for your full name." With a shy smile, I replied, "My full name is Remilda Marie Lucan."

His eyes sparkled with admiration as he whispered, "Remilda, what a beautiful name." I then asked him, “So, is your name really John Smith?” He hesitated before responding, “Yes and no.” The answer wasn’t what I expected and left me a bit irked, my brow furrowed. In that moment, he leaned in and gently kissed me, leaving me with a sense of warmth, causing my heart to flutter. Leaning my head against his shoulder, he planted another gentle kiss on the top of my head. I asked him about his age, hoping he wouldn't mind. He responded with a casual sigh, saying, "I am the age you believe me to be." His ambiguous answer left me slightly irate, desiring a more direct response. Eventually, he spoke up, stating, "Well, the way you see me, I appear to be in my thirties."

I nodded, acknowledging what he said. “But I am five hundred years old,” he paused. “Well, my body is.” Startled, my eyes flew open, and a soft gasp escaped my lips. "But how?" I asked, my curiosity was piqued by the mysterious revelation. "The body I inhabit once belonged to a man from the 1500’s," he explained, his gaze fixed on the vast expanse of the ocean. "His name was John Smith. I appeared to him as he wandered down a dusty path." Eager to hear more, I urged him to continue. He drew me closer, his voice barely above a whisper. "My kind are non-corporeal beings," he began, his words painting a picture of his otherworldly origins. "We are Beings of pure energy. Our planet lies five hundred thousand light years away from Earth.

The monoliths, including the one you see here, arrived in our world many millennia ago, settling in the Syranu Desert. The ancient structures were revered by my people as divine symbols, with no one daring to enter except for one brave soul.” He exhaled as he reminisced. "You were the exception," I pointed out, to which he acknowledged, "It takes courage to venture into the unknown, my Remi, and that's exactly what I did. Although my kind can live for many millenniums, we are not invincible, we can be killed," he mentioned, causing me to shudder, "Who would want to kill you? You are a remarkable being, whether human or extraterrestrial, and you are really something else, extraordinary."

"I appreciate your words, Remi," he replied before leaning in to kiss me softly. "So, what transpired next?" I asked, eager for more details.

"After visiting the monolith regularly, I mustered the courage to approach the crystals. I cautiously touched one of the shimmering crystals on the matrix table on the pillar, a surge of energy enveloped me, transporting me to a completely different world - your world, during the Renaissance era. It was a breathtaking sight, but my attention was quickly drawn to a bewildered peasant in his thirties who happened to be walking along a path in the countryside and spun around when he heard the monolith appear.

He cautiously approached the monolith; his eyes filled with both curiosity and fear. And then, the door slid open, causing him to jump back and stumble in astonishment." My curiosity piqued, and I couldn't help but interject, "What happened next? What did you do?" Mr. Smith paused; his eyes filled with a mix of sadness and regret. He sighed, "As I stepped out of the monolith, the peasant's expression transformed into a mixture of awe and terror. To him, I must have seemed like an otherworldly being - an Angel or a Demon. It was at that moment that I realized why the monolith had brought me to the 1500’s," he explained, his voice filled with a hint of mystery. A heavy silence settled between us, the anticipation of his next words hanging in the air, leaving me yearning for more. "I adore your curiosity," he expressed, gazing at me thoughtfully. "Please don't judge me for what I'm about to tell you though," he said. Mr. Smith felt uneasy about revealing his secret, worried that it could change how I perceive him. "The moment I stepped out of the monolith, the man gazed at my real appearance." I pondered on that briefly, "I wonder how his true form actually looks like."  He continued, “To my dismay, the man lost his sight as soon as he laid eyes on my true form.

He was blinded by my light, literally. It seems that humans are unable to withstand the sight of me in my true state. I brought the unfortunate man into the monolith, where the AI scanned his body and determined that he would have eventually succumbed to cancer. So, I made the decision to end his life." My jaw dropped in shock as I stared at him, unable to comprehend as to why he did it. I wanted to run away but he held me close.

"Why?" I asked, completely taken aback by his revelation. He then reassured me, "The AI informed me that in order to live among your kind, I needed to inhabit a physical form. Remember, he would have died anyways. Trust me, he didn't feel any pain." I sat there in silence, shocked by his revelation. His embrace was tight, as if he feared I would walk away from him, in fact, I wanted to but emotionally I couldn’t leave him. He met my eyes earnestly. I swallowed hard and said, “I'm sorry for what you went through, but you did what you had to.” At that moment, a slight fear crept over me, but I managed to conceal it from him. As he embraced me, his smile and appreciation were unmistakable. It was clear that he was genuinely pleased that I didn't pass any negative judgment on him for what he had done. However, I did want to run away from him but then my feelings of love for him kept me there. Where would I run to?” I thought.

“I am so happy that I met you Remi, I finally found someone who understands my pain,” he said, expressing relief.

"I'll always be here for you." I promised him, despite the warning signs that I chose to ignore. It's a peculiar situation, really. I am head over heels in love with him, he is my first love, and no matter if I tried to leave him, he would always find a way back to me, literally. He found a way to track me and had this habit of stalking me, which I was oblivious to at the time. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we enjoyed a beautiful evening together, marveling at the sky ablaze with shades of orange and pink before making our way back to the monolith.

Chapter 4: Dolan Reveals the Truth

The anticipation of his next move left her breathless, eager to surrender to his every command. “Get on your hands and knees.” Cher's moans of ecstasy filled the room as he teased her with his thick, pulsating member, tantalizingly close to her tight little asshole. The thought of plunging into her backdoor excited him, but he hesitated, unsure if she was ready for such a taboo act. Instead, he pushed his throbbing shaft into her wet, eager pussy, fucking her with a primal intensity that made her perfect breasts bounce and jiggle with each powerful thrust. Both were lost in a haze of lust, their heavy breaths mingling in the air as they surrendered to their carnal desires. With each forceful thrust, he would deliver a sharp slap to her round, firm ass, eliciting a mixture of pleasure and pain from her lips. She bit down on her lip to stifle her cries of pleasure, afraid that the neighbors might hear.

"Oh God, yes," she gasped softly, her voice a breathless whisper as he continued to pound her with a relentless rhythm, driving her closer and closer to the edge of ecstasy. Finally, as their bodies trembled in unison, they reached the pinnacle of pleasure, their orgasms crashing over them in waves of pure bliss. Her walls clenched tightly around his shaft, milking him for every last drop of cum as he released himself inside her, marking her as his own with a few possessive love bites on her quivering skin.

"Oh baby, you feel so fucking good," he groaned, his voice husky with desire as he emptied himself into her, his hot seed mixing with her own juices in a deliciously sinful cocktail of passion and lust. After that intense encounter, they lay entwined in each other's arms and from the window, the moonlight casting eerie shadows across the room. Cher's gaze shifted towards the clock, her mind filled with a mix of anticipation and unease. The time read 11:30pm, a reminder that she had failed to inform Maddie of her whereabouts for the night. But Dolan’s promise to have her home before midnight, echoed in her thoughts, momentarily overshadowed by the intensity of his passionate kiss. Breaking the silence, Dolan's voice resonated with a sinister undertone as he whispered, "I am going to show you something, my love." His body pressed against hers, his lips leaving a trail of fiery kisses along her neck. The once tender embrace now took on a predatory nature, as his tongue invaded her mouth like a slithering snake. A sudden shift in the atmosphere sent shivers down Cher's spine, a sense of foreboding creeping into her consciousness. As Dolan continued to explore her mouth, a strange phenomenon unfolded before her eyes. It was as if an invisible force was being transferred from him to her, an exchange of energy that terrified her. She could literally feel his essence emanating from his mouth and merging with her own. His words, laced with a twisted encouragement, pierced through the darkness, "Come on, share with me. You are like me now; you can do this." The realization dawned upon Cher that this was no ordinary encounter. Dolan's intentions were far from innocent, and the consequences of refusing his offer became clear. "If you don't feed, you'll start showing signs of weakness," he added, his voice dripping with a sinister allure. In that moment, Cher found herself at a crossroads, torn between the allure of newfound power and the fear of losing herself to the darkness that now enveloped them both. With trepidation, she swallowed hard and obediently followed his command. The act of sharing her energy felt utterly unnatural, as if she was delving into forbidden territory. It was evident that he had performed this ritual before, for he seemed well-versed in its intricacies. In that moment, a startling revelation struck her like a bolt of lightning - Leena, too, was molded in his image. The realization sent shivers down her spine, for it meant that he had transformed her into something akin to himself. While a surge of vitality coursed through her veins, an unsettling feeling of violation gnawed at her very core. Her very soul teetered on the precipice of danger, as if it had been tainted by his dark influence. Following the exchange of their life force, they found solace in the embrace of one another.

"There is something I need to tell you." He uttered softly. "I am an energy vampire, yet I did not wish to bring harm to you during our first sexual encounter. In the depths of my being, I sensed the essence of my beloved wife, reborn in you. Therefore, I made the decision to bestow upon you the same immortal existence as mine, to safeguard your precious life." Cher lay there dumbfounded by what she heard.
